MISS WYOMING USA® & MISS WYOMING TEEN USA®

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step” by Martin Luther King are words Claire Schreiner lives by. On September 27th, 2009, the 22-year-old from Gillette, Wyoming captured the title of Miss Wyoming USA 2010. Taking one step at a time, Claire was able to achieve this longtime goal of hers along with many others.

Two of her other most gratifying accomplishments are earning the Wyoming State Gymnastic All-around Championship three consecutive years and also receiving a full-ride Division 1 Track and Field scholarship to the University of Nevada – Las Vegas (UNLV).

Currently a senior, Claire is the captain of the Track and Field team where she competes in the high jump, hurdles and pentathlon. She achieved the Mountain West Conference All-Academic Team and University Dean’s List while majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in entertainment management. Claire looks forward to using her education and pageant experience to become a sports reporter and ultimately an Olympic commentator. An internship at ESPN this summer reaffirmed her desire to reach these goals.

In her spare time, Claire, a self-described “work-out junkie,” enjoys modeling, going to the movies, bargain shopping and eating sushi. Spending time with her family and being a friend is of the utmost importance to Claire. She loves to make people laugh and has been known to play a practical joke or two. Claire also shares two of her favorite passions, sports and shoes, with others. She volunteers for the Special Olympics, Senior Olympics and Goodie Two-Shoes, an organization that fits inner city children with brand new shoes. These experiences are especially rewarding for her and help keep everything in perspective.

During her reign as Miss Wyoming USA 2010, Claire plans to make a difference along the way at any opportunity. The next step in Claire’s journey is to make the “cowboy state” proud and be the first woman from Wyoming to bring home the Miss USA crown on April 18th, 2010. She gives much thanks to her friends, family and Future Productions for all their support and encouragement.
